Last week United Youth Alliance held the first national Youth Hack, putting The Fylde Coast on the map for all the right reasons. The room was buzzing with energy, with young people, from across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde, determined (and rightly so) to have their voices and opinions heard, as well as creating solutions. https://www.iwill.org.uk/deliver-you-national-youth-strategy-hack-events-launched-in-blackpool/

As part of the Government’s commitment, #iwill and UYA are actively encouraging young people to take part in the UK-wide survey and ensure their voices are heard. This is the link https://www.iwill.org.uk/nys-deliver-you/
This is a groundbreaking moment for young people in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. Being the first to facilitate a Deliver Youth Hack means young people are leading the way in influencing national policy. Their voices, experiences and solutions will help shape a strategy that truly reflects the needs and ambitions of young people across the country.
Through UYA partnership with the #iwill campaign, UYA is working to create a Coast of Social Action, aiming to make the Fylde Coast the first of its kind. Ipswich is currently the first town, with Manchester working towards becoming the first city. To achieve this, we are encouraging organisations to sign up for The power of Youth Charter, to demonstrate commitment to youth voice and young people’s experiences and need to be involved in the services designed to support them as well as encouraging young people to be active citizens and develop key social action projects. https://www.iwill.org.uk/organisations/pledges/

UYA are asking for organisations and businesses to support youth voice and actively show their commitment by signing up to the charter and where possible display the posters and links to the National Youth strategy.
“THIS IS A GROUNDBREAKING MOMENT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN BLACKPOOL AND THE FYLDE COAST. BEING THE FIRST TO FACILITATE A DELIVER YOU HACK MEANS YOUNG PEOPLE ARE LEADING THE WAY IN INFLUENCING NATIONAL POLICY. THEIR VOICES, EXPERIENCES, AND SOLUTIONS WILL HELP SHAPE A STRATEGY THAT TRULY REFLECTS THE NEEDS AND AMBITIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY.”
DEBORAH TERRAS, CEO OF UNITED YOUTH ALLIANCE.
