Learning Hours
- This course consists of four units
- Total credit value is eleven
- Total qualification time is 110 hours
The Level 2 Award is an introductory accredited youth work qualification that develops confidence and skills for those working with young people.
This course is fully delivered online.

Who is this course for
This course is suitable for new volunteers, part time youth workers or individuals who are relatively new to working with young people in different settings i.e. youth offending service, local youth organisations, those new to a youth support role or just starting out on youth work.
Minimum requirements
While some experience of working with young people in a voluntary or paid role would be beneficial, the course can before those just starting to engage with young people
Learner age is 14 +
Delivery overview
The following units will be covered:
Welcome and introduction to the course.
- Theory of Youth Work
- Young People’s Development
- Safeguarding in a youth work setting
- Engaging and communicating with young people
Delivery tutors
Online Tutors – All our tutors are JNC qualified and have extensive experience in the delivery of this course
This course consists of online webinar learning sessions which will last for 3 hours each. The course also involves periods of self-guided learning and support from dedicated line manager or mentor.
Learners have access to support and guidance from their tutor via the online delivery and professional discussion. There will be an expectation that all learners have support from their organisation and a dedicated line manager and/mentor.
Each of the units will have set assessment hand in dates after each taught session, an assessment plan will be provided, and each leaner will receive summative feedback and support.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you will:
- Understand the key principles of youth work
- Be more aware of how to support young people effectively
- Have increased knowledge of the importance of safeguarding, boundaries, confidentiality and information sharing
- Be confident in young people’s development and how this affects how we work with young people
Progression route
Learners will be certificated for all units and qualifications that are achieved. The Award acts as a stand-alone qualification but also contributes to the elements of Level 3 Youth Work in Practice Certificate and diploma if you wish to use this learning for further study.
