Level 3 Youth Work Certificate

The Level 3 Certificate qualification meets the National Occupational Standards for Youth Work.
It supports the skills and knowledge learners need to become a competent Youth Support Worker.
If you currently hold a Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles you can use this as a credit of prior learning against the first four units, starting this course from unit 5. (please contact admin@uyacic.org for details and costs)
This course is fully delivered online.

Who is this course for
This course is for people who are working/volunteering alongside young people. The level 3 certificate course is taught over ten months. The course requires commitment from you, your supervisor and placement organisation due to the nature of the learning and your role.
The course will include planning and delivery of a 20-hour project alongside young people as part of your assessment.
Minimum requirements
- At least 6 months experience of working alongside young people
- Current role working/volunteering alongside young people for a minimum of 60 hours across the duration of the course. (Approx 6 hours a month)
- Learner age is 16 +
- Supervisor with JNC qualification or 2 years’ experience of working with young people
- You will need to be working face to face with young people and have the necessary support and supervision in place

- Youth Work in participation Spaces and Places
- Reflective Practice in a Youth Work Setting

- Group Work within a Youth Work Setting
- Work based practice in Youth Work

Delivery tutors
Online Tutors – All our tutors are JNC qualified and have extensive experience in the delivery of this course
This course consists of online webinar learning sessions which will last for 3 hours each. The course also involves periods of self-guided learning and support from dedicated line manager or mentor.
Learners have access to support and guidance from their tutor via the online delivery and professional discussion. There will be an expectation that all learners have support from their organisation and a dedicated line manager and/mentor.
Each of the units will have set assessment hand in dates after each taught session, an assessment plan will be provided, and each leaner will receive summative feedback and support.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you will have developed knowledge, skills and theory and applied this in real world practice in in a range of youth work practise including but not limited to :
- The values, core principles and current policies relating to youth work
- Intervention and communication strategies in a youth work setting
- Principles, knowledge and skills needed for youth work practice development and how this affects how we work with young people
- Key participation approaches and application
Progression route
Learners who achieve this qualification may wish to complete additional units to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice.
